Key objectives have been:

• to improve accessibility and legibility around the campus

• update planting, finishes and seating to reflect expectations of today’s students

• stimulate activity and use through creation of more informal social spaces

Lord Todd Quad - reimagined as a vibrant, gregarious space to host informal sports and games with chill-out spaces taking advantage of the south facing aspect.

Birbeck Court outdoor snugs - an underused space currently, new seating pods, with updated planting and lighting providing a sociable space for students to mix.

Garnet Hall growing area - bringing an indistinct area to life with an orchard, boules court and fruiting hedges that provide a food source for birds, with raised planters where student and staff can grow fruit and vegetables.

Lord Todd west entrance - improvements to ease pedestrian congestion and offer more opportunities for informal meeting and socialising.

Thomas Campbell terraced gardens - a generous yet underused south facing banked linear lawn is transformed into a lively hub for outdoor studying, as well as socialising with BBQ areas and sunbathing spots provided through seating steps, terraces and picnic areas. Spring bulbs, ornamental grasses and specimen trees add a layer of seasonal interest and richness to the space.
