Consultation begins on Stirling River Park

Stirling Council and Scottish Natural Heritage are working together with the aim of creating a River Park that encompasses the meandering River Forth through Stirling into a high quality strategic, recreational and environmental asset at the heart of the city.

The River Park concept aims to transform the meandering river corridor into a high quality strategic recreational and environmental asset at the heart of the city. It will create a vibrant open space network connecting historic landmarks, celebrating the riverside habitats, framing beautiful views and supporting a range of outdoor activities for local people and for visitors to the city. It will encompass a strategic east-west active travel spine linking the river to the wider city through key travel connections and links to communities north and south of the river. Existing and new bridges will encourage walking and cycling, making journeys much more attractive and convenient. Waymarking and interpretation will help people navigate to and within the river park easily and help to describe the historic and natural assets woven into the park area.

Raeburn Farquhar Bowen and WSP UK are working with Stirling Council and SNH in the early stages of developing a masterplan for the river park concept. We would like to know your views on the river through Stirling :
· how you use the river park area
· what routes you take
· what problems you encounter
· where you wish to see improvements
· what ideas you might have for the river park

We will be holding community engagement workshops at the following venues and dates. Anyone is invited to call in throughout the afternoon, view the information and help us to understand your aspirations and needs for the river park. At each venue we will hold a design workshop with the local schools at 2.00pm and with the public at 5.30pm.

  1. Tuesday February 20th 2pm – 7.30pm at Raploch Community Campus
  2. Thursday February 22nd 2pm – 7.30pm at Cambuskenneth Hall
  3. Friday February 23rd 2pm – 7.30pm at Cornton Community Centre

You can also complete a very quick online survey here.

The more you tell us, the better the park can be.
